One of my favorite places to go for a variety of reasons is Venice beach. The beach is quite beautiful and you may actually see a dolphin or six while soaking up the sun or boogie boarding. The other thing I love about Venice is the biking path that runs for many miles along the Pacific Coast. If you like to ride your bike or roller skate, either is a fun way to see the great sites at Venice Beach.

There is a area at Venice beach where everyone gets together and skates. Loud music and lots of fun people to hang out with! People watching is the other reason to go. There are a wide variety of interesting people to check out!

Shopping along the boardwalk is also a fun thing to do. There are restaurants and places to get some food, ice cream and so much more. If you love the beach and doing any of the things I’ve mentioned, go to Venice beach. You’ll have a ball!

I love this restaurant not only for the food, but the atmosphere is wonderful! When it’s warm they swing open windows and you get the sea breeze while drinking a cocktail. One of the oldest and most prestigious equestrian competitions in the Western US, the Annual Del Mar National Horse Show is comprised of a week each of Western, Dressage and Hunter/Jumper competition. Over 3,000 horses take part, representing many breeds, at the equestrian complex at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in coastal Del Mar. Spectators will see reining, spins, sliding stops, elegant dressage moves choreographed to music, daredevil show jumping, trick riders, comedy acts, thrills and spills, and more.

Western Week • April 18–21

The highlight of Western Week is the Night of the Horse, Saturday, April 20, at 7:00PM. This year’s theme is The Wild West with returning favorites Tommie Turvey and the One-Arm Bandit!

The Coronado Flower Show is held annually on the third weekend of April in Spreckels Park in the center of Coronado’s Village. This is the largest flower show, held under tents, in the nation. Exhibits are placed inside tents surrounding a central gazebo, which becomes the stage for continuous entertainment, announcements and trophy presentations

Open to the public. Admission is $5.

FREE entry for children under 12 and for Coronado Floral Association members.

LOCATION

The Coronado Flower Show takes up nearly an entire city block. Located in the center of the City of Coronado across from the Coronado Library on Orange Ave between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Here is some information about 91.1X:

It was late 1982 in San Diego. There were three “rock” stations in town: KGB, KPRI and 91X. All were playing the same tunes (Boston, Led Zeppelin, Journey, etc) and the ratings consistently showed 91X in 3rd place of the three. Something had to change… something new and radical.

Up north in Los Angeles, there was a very successful radio station, KROQ, that called itself “The Rock of The 80′s”, a format created by Rick Carroll. It was decided that Rick should come to San Diego and change the 91X format to “Rock of the 80′s”

January 11th, 1983. At 6:00 pm, “Stairway to Heaven” played. There was a pre-taped message from John Lynch, the general manager, to introduce the “new format”. We were now 91X: The Rock of The 80′s! Mad Max, who had been Todd Ralston in the prior format, was the first DJ to play the new format.

Max had been given a big box of records (vinyl) and was told “this is your new format”. Part of the new format was not only the type of music played but an irreverence on the part of the DJs. The first song played on the new 91X was “Sex (I’m A…)” by Berlin, bringing a radical playlist of songs mostly unfamiliar at the time to San Diego. The station quickly become known for being a true “alternative” to traditional rock radio music and lifestyle, gaining fans and establishing a heritage that has carried three decades.

It was only a matter of months before the ratings turned around and 91X led in the 3 horse race between the rock stations. There were a number of billboards around town with the new logo and band names which represented the new format; The Clash, B52′s, The Pretenders, etc. The switch had been flipped, and radio in San Diego would never be the same…

Opening Night April 5th, 2013

One of the greatest ongoing traditions in San Diego County, Cruisin’ Grand in Escondido runs for six spectacular months. This is a FREE EVENT where more than 5000 visitors and car enthusiasts each Friday Night come to check out the 500+ cars lining the streets of historic downtown Escondido. Cruise nights run April through September from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

I’m half Italian so I know Italian food. My family has always been ALL about eating, family and good times. So this place took me back to my childhood. The food was excellent and the server was great. I was kind of surprised at how large the menu was (how much can you offer but Pizza & Pasta?) but I decided to have the salad and Margarita pizza and some wine (of course). The crust was perfect and the cheese was so gooey and just the right amount of basil. It was so yummy! We shared a dessert of Tiramisu which was light and very satisfying. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This goes without saying. California has the best beaches. Some aren’t so clean, but most are beautiful. On a warm sunny day, there is no better place to be in the world.

I’ve seen the general public in quite a few places. And I must say that California has the best of the best when it comes to looks. You see beautiful people everywhere, especially when you go to places like beaches, Beverly Hills or even smaller cities like Pasadena or La Jolla. Guys and girls just have good genes here. I also like that in California, most people are friendly and enjoy a smile or a nice gesture like “have a good day”.

Where else can you do that? I mean that has to be the coolest thing ever. One time I was in Big Bear in the snow and within 2 hours I was sitting on the beach in my bikini. I love the weather here. You have the snow, the heat of the desert and the humidity of the beach.
